Fuel For Your Soul, Food For Your Brain

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what is it that inspires me, and while there are numerous things that could find themselves on that list, there is one important one that always sits nearest the top.

Witnessing joy in someone else’s face. This is what drives me, what inspires me, what fuels my soul.

You know what I’m talking about– that pure, unadulterated joy where if you watch closely you can see the person light up with delight. It gets me every time. And by “gets me” I mean it makes me cry. Because, you know, I’m a softy. Sometimes just for the fun of it I will watch videos of people announcing exciting life events or reuniting after being apart just to feel my heart swell up as I share in their excitement.

What I’m getting at is I get my kicks out of seeing someone realize their potential or gain something they have been desiring or feel whole and contented.

I think this is what draws me to giving–knowing that I can have some part in a joy like this or be able to witness it up close, and it allows me to share with others how impactful a moment like this can be.

It’s easy to feel joyous when something like this happens to us personally, but when we can share in someone realizing this type of joy for themselves the reward is twofold.

Everyday I find myself more drawn to empowering others, to spreading kindness and to giving more than I get, and everyday is a new opportunity to do just that.

Here’s to a happy Monday and spreading love and light.
